New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) booked three postal department employees in Hyderabad for allegedly exchanged demonetised high value currency notes worth Rs 36 lakh.

Reports said that the agency registered a first information report against three persons including a senior superintendent of the post office. They have been booked on charge of criminal misconduct and criminal breach of trust after they exchanged the money.

CBI conducted inspections at some post offices in the city after receiving information of illegal exchange of demonetised currency notes with new ones.

Earlier this month, two bankers were arrested in Hyderabad for depositing Rs 6 lakh demonetised currency notes and withdrawing the same amount without ID proofs in a bank.
