New Delhi: A Delhi University student was arrested on Monday by the Delhi police for the murder of his own brother which was purportedly related to squabble over privacy. The brothers were resident in a private flat in north Delhi’s Burari area.
Himanshu Verma, a 23-year-old Delhi University student, was asked by his older brother, Hitesh, to leave the house around 1:30 am in the night due to his girlfriend coming over to the house. However, since this was not the first time Himanshu had been asked to stay out temporarily, he objected to the request and threw a dumbbell at his brother.
Himanshu kept hitting Hitesh with the dumbbell which eventually resulted in Hitesh’s death.
When the police arrived at the scene of the crime, Himanshu tried to cook up a story about how two robbers had barged in inside the house. But with further interrogation, Himanshu broke down and revealed the truth. He also told the police that he was being asked by his brother to leave the house every other day.
Police have arrested Himanshu and booked him under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
Both the brothers were from Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
