New Delhi: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Monday decided that it will not attend the pre-budget all-party meet which is going to be held on January 30 in New Delhi.

The TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has called the party MPs to attend a meeting at her Kalighat residence instead.

Trinamool spokesperson Derek O’Brien said, “Mamata Banerjee will chair a meeting of party MPs at the party office in Kalighat on Monday, January 30 at 12.30pm.”

The all-party meeting will be held on Monday to seek the support of opposition parties for the smooth conduct of parliamentary proceedings.

Earlier, Mamata had protested against the presentation of Union budget on February 1 as it was clashing with the Saraswati Puja day.

“Why don’t we celebrate Saraswati Pujo in a big way instead of presenting Union Budget on Feb 1. Do Saraswati bandana & not YOUR bandana?” she said.

Several opposition parties, including the Congress and TMC had earlier moved the Election Commission against presentation of the Budget on Feb 1, only days before the polls in the five state assemblies begins on February 4.
