Lucknow: Raking up the issue of “exodus” of Hindus in Uttar Pradesh’s Kairana district last year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogi Adityanath said the situation in Western UP was like the situation in Kashmir in 1990.

He accused the ruling Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) of failing to protect Hindu interests.

Addressing a rally, the BJP MP said in 1990, the Hindus were terrorised and forced to leave Kashmir and now Hindus in Kairana are facing the same.

“When I look at western UP, I have regrets… when I see the social framework and demography… On January 19, 1990, Hindus had to migrate collectively from Kashmir. A massacre took place, the honour of mothers and sisters were openly tramped upon. If we have seen a sight similar to this anywhere, it was either in Bengal or western UP. Kairana and Kandhla are examples.

Urging the Hindu voters to support BJP, Yogi Adityanath said, “BJP is committed not to let this happen anymore. We have lost Kashmir Valley, but we cannot let western Uttar Pradesh to become second Kashmir.”
