Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed the nation after the Union Budget 2017 was presented by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.
In his address, PM Modi praised FM Arun Jaitley by calling the Budget an “uttam’ (excellent) one that will strengthen the economy of the country. He also termed the Budget “poor-centric” and that it is “devoted to the well-being of the villages, farmers and poor”.

Modi also lauded the merging of the Railway Budget with the Union Budget saying it will give an impetus to the transport sector’s growth.

“The aim of the government is to double the income of farmers,” said Modi.
He further added, “The commitment to eliminate corruption and black money is reflected in the Budget.”

Modi even added that the historic Budget will help small businesses to become competitive in the global market.
