A woman hailing from Jallipalli village in Andhra Pradesh was brutally beaten up in public for defending her land against construction.

The woman, 40-year-old Sudha, was brutally beaten up in public by the sarpanch and his two other associates for resisting construction on the land outside her house. A video of the incident emerged online where the woman is punched, kicked and dragged by the enraged men.

The incident occurred at Jallipalli village of Kuderu block on January 29. The sarpanch, Mekala Nagaraju, and his two other associates have been arrested by the police on the complaint filed by the victim and his brother.

The argument had broken out on the issue of construction of a water tank outside Sudha’s house which was originally planned for outside the sarpanch’s house.
