Two militants were killed in an encounter on Saturday afternoon by the Baramulla Police and 53 RR in the Amargarh area of Sopore district.

According to the sources in police, the SOG had got information about the movement of these militants. The whole area was immediately cordoned off by the security forces.

The encounter started when the militants, who were travelling in a vehicle, were stopped by the police at a check point.

The militants inside opened the fire which was retaliated triggering a gun battle between the security forces and the militants.

Both militants were neutralised. Some arms and ammunitions were also recovered from them.

The identity of the militants is yet to be ascertained. But as per the initial reports, both the militants are foreigners.
