A Border Security Force (BSF) court on Saturday reportedly stated that lack of spices in the dal was the reason for jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav, ’s outburst on Facebook.

According to a report in HT, the preliminary findings by a BSF court found out that lack of jeera (cumin) or onions in tadka (tampering) for dal prompted Tej Bahadur Yadav to post the videos on social media.

“Lack of ‘jeera’ (cumin) or onions in ‘tadka’ or tempering for dal prompted Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav to post videos of the meal,” preliminary findings of the BSF court of inquiry said.

The report also said that cumin was not available at the base for a couple of days and by the time it arrived; Yadav had already uploaded the videos.

“Apart from dal, there were other food items on the menu but Yadav didn’t complain about them,” said HT report.

On November 30, BSF jawan Tej Bahadur had posted a video on Facebook complaining about the bad quality of food being served to jawans.

The video showed shots of burnt chappatis and runny daal, where Yadav’s voice can be heard saying that there are even times when the soldiers have to go to sleep on an empty stomach.
