Unused explosives were found inside the Red Fort in New Delhi on Monday. The National Security Guard (NSG) specialised bomb disposal squad with the Total Containment Vessels have been rushed to the fort.

The maintenance key staff of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for Red Fort detected the explosives and immediately contacted the local police.

Lots of unused phosphorous explosives and mortar shells were found inside the fort, police said.

The area has been sealed as a precautionary measure and local police has been deployed in large number to avoid any untoward incident.

“A PCR call was received on Monday regarding the finding of unused explosives inside the Red Fort. The entire area has been cordoned off,” said a senior police officer.
