A single mother unable to provide for her daughters in Mysuru, Karnataka sold them to two different buyers on Thursday.
The impoverished woman was raising her two daughters alone ever since her husband divorced her. The 6-year-old daughter was sold to a resident from Bhimanahalli village and another 9-year-old girl to a buyer from Kailaspura village.
Although it is presumed that both the buyers were childless but since they ‘paid’ to get the custody of the girls, the whole story didn’t go down well with the woman’s fellow Bidarahalli village residents.
The villagers complained at the Child Care Centre which acted swiftly on the matter and visited both the buyers. The Centre successfully managed to find the girls and rescue them.
The police is treating and probing the matter as a special case while the Child Welfare Committee is playing its role in the investigation as well.
