Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief and separatist leader Asiya Andrabi and her personal secretary Sofi Fehmeeda were arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday.
A statement by Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM) said, “A police party raided her residence and arrested the DeM chief and Sofi Fehmeeda.”
The police have not given any reason for the arrest but it is alleged that Asiya had earlier indulged in anti-national activities.
This is not the first time that Asiya has indulged in anti-India activities in Srinagar. In the past too, the pro-separatist has waved Pakistani flags and sung Pakistani patriotic songs on the occasion of India’s Independence Day and Republic Day. Asiya Andrabi was under house arrest since December 2016.
Andrabi’s husband Qasim Faktoo is in jail for anti-India activities.
