PM Narendra Modi launches Digital India Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the Digital India Project via video conference in two village panchayats of the district on Wednesday in the presence of top industrialists of India.

A pet scheme of the Modi government, the Digital India Project worth Rs. 1 lakh crore intends to connect all gram panchayats by broadband internet, promote e-governance and transform India into a connected knowledge economy. The schemes include digital locker, e-education, e-health, and a national scholarship portal.

Centre plans to bring in 2.5 lakh villages under broadband connectivity through the ambitious programme. As a part of the programme, the Army will launch a new office automation software for offices dealing with more than 12 lakh serving soldiers.
