The election in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat may have been over but not the political tension there. A tragic incident has surfaced from Baraut constituency where a family was thrashed by local goons for not casting their vote for a particular party.
According to reports, a group of men brutally attacked five members of a family including three women for not casting their vote in favour of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in the recently concluded first phase of UP Assembly polls.
The incident was so shameful that the accused did not even spare the women of that family and also tore their clothes. The incident happened when the goons forcefully asked the family members to which party they had cast their vote.
When the members of the family were returning after lodging their complaint with the police, the goons brutally beat them, injuring five members of the family.
The goons forced the family members and asked them to reveal whom they voted for. Initially, the family members resisted but under pressure they revealed the choice they had made and were beaten up by the goons.
It has been reported that the accused also kidnapped a person of the family.
The police have registered a case of ‘attempt to murder’ on the accused but have mentioned nothing about the kidnapping in its report.
This is not the first time that a family has been targeted like this. In a similar incident, another family was targeted for casting their vote to BJP. The goons targeted their house and attempted to damage the property in Mukundpur village in UP.
