Tension was at it’s peak at former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam’s residence for some time on Thursday as miscreants pelted stones at his supporters.
People belonging to the anti-Panneerselvam camp objected to the presence of his supporters outside his residence.
This resulted in heated arguments and was followed by some stone pelting.
Bringing an end to the political drama in Tamil Nadu, the Governor, C Vidyasagar Rao, invited the leader of Legislature Party, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Public Works Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to form the future government.
Palaniswami succeeds O Panneerselvam, who became Chief Minister after the demise of J Jayalalithaa on 5 December 2016 in Chennai.
In the meeting, Palaniswami also presented the list of 31 MLAs who he wants in his cabinet. The MLAs, including Palaniswami, are being administered oath of office today.
