Sticking to welfare and alcohol probation line, E Palaniswami addressed media for the first time after taking over position as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. During his address, he listed the schemes which had been announced earlier for the betterment of the people of state.

In one of his first decisions as the CM of the state, Palaniswami, unleashed his ire on the increasing alcohol problem in the state by shutting down almost 500 TASMACs.

While addressing the media, the CM also announced a 50 percent subsidy for working women to buy two-wheeler. Also, the maternity assistance amount was increased from Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000.

Highlighting the troubles faced by the state, Edapadi Palaniswami said, “We are facing drought situation in TN. Govt will work swiftly to ensure compensation reaches farmers at earliest.”

For the upliftment of fishermen in the state, E Palaniswami said that the government will be building 5000 new houses for fishermen.
