Hours after Yogi Adityanath was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mohd Shami was shot dead by some bike-borne assailants in Allahabad’s Mau Aima town on Sunday night.
According to reports, Shami was on his way back home when the attackers opened fire at him. He shot at five times, due to which he died on the spot.
Soon after the murder, the locals came out to protest against the killing of BSP leader and even blocked Allahabad-Faizabad border.
Shami had recently joined BSP after leaing Samajwadi Party (SP).
In another incident, a railway official, his wife and daughter were murdered in Auraiya district of Uttar Pradesh. The police investigation is underway.
