BJP leader Tarun Vijay on Friday stirred a massive controversy with his racist remarks against South Indians.

Vijay, in an conversation with foreign news networks Al Jazeera said that Indians can not be termed racist because they are accepting of South Indians.

“If we (Indians) were racist why would we live with south Indians. We live with black people around us,” he said.

Vijay was speaking to Al Jazeera in relation to recent attacks on Africans in the country which have been described as ‘xenophobic and racial’ by African envoys.

Tarun Vijay, however tried to do some damage control later with a clarification on micro-blogging site Twitter.

It would be interesting to see how his clarification goes down with Opposition parties who have lashed out at him for his comments.
