In a tragic incident being reported, a 26-year-old Indian national was shot dead by two masked men in Yakima city of Washington on Thursday night.

The victim was later identified as Vikram Jaryal who hailed from Hoshiarpur district in Punjab and was working as a clerk in the gas station.

Following the incident, Indian officials are currently coordinating with the US investigating agencies over the reports of the accused who is absconding.

As per official reports, Jaryal was behind the counter when the masked men barged into the store and asked for the money. The victim handed over the money to the two accused, but while leaving one of them fired at Jaryal.

Taking cognizance of the matter, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Saturday said that she has received a report of the incident. According to Swaraj, Mr Jaryal had reached the US only 25 days back.

Taking to her Twitter handle, Swaraj said, “I have received a report on the shootout incident resulting in the tragic death of Indian national Vikram Jaryal in Washington State USA”.

She further explained the incident saying,

As per the official investigating the matter, the hoody donned by the suspect was recognizable so we are hoping that after releasing the footage someone will come up to provide help in the investigation.
