BANGALORE: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramnaian Swamy is known for raising controversial statements and the saffron party leader has yet another time created a storm by offering debatable comments on the ongoing FTII row.
While the students have protesting for a month over the appointment of the FTII Chairperson have been gaining immense support from the Bollywood bigwigs, Swamy has claimed that most of the students are naxals.
“Government has the right to appoint the FTII Chairperson. No where it is mentioned that the students need to be quizzed or there should be any election for it. So, who are these students to object on this,” Swamy asked.
Further dragging the former ruling UPA government into the controversy, the BJP leader added that most of the students protesting are followers of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
The government on Friday shielded the decision of appointing Gajendra Chauhan as the Head of Film and Television Institute of India, saying it wanted someone who could dedicate time to the premier institute, while some reports suggested that names of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth were among those recommended for the post.
