Amid the ongoing unrest in the state, Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra in a letter written to the Centre has asked the government to replace him.

As per sources in Raj Bhawan, Vohra wrote the letter seeking a replacement. The reasons behind his letter remain unclear as of now.

NN Vohra who is serving his second term as Governor of Jammu and Kashmir is in the ninth year of his service.

Notably, Vohra is the only Governor who has been given the second term by the Central government. Vohra came to office in the year 2008 under the UPA government.

As per sources, no specific reasons have been cited by him. Vohra was given an extension in the year 2013.

Vohra is the 12th Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. He took over from SK Sinha on June 25, 2008.

He worked as Central government’s interlocutor in Kashmir since 2003 until he was appointed as J&K Governor.
