The social media is now buzzing with fancy yet relevant pictures of Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) new currency notes of Rs 200 after reports of new notes first emerged in March during a meeting.
Bewildering everyone, it is still unknown from where the 200 rupee note picture came from as it is currently doing rounds on social media.
Looking as a possible prototype of the Rs 2000 note, the ‘alleged’ Rs 200 which has taken social media by storm has a bluish tint in the picture.
Earlier a source was quoted as saying, “The process of printing the new Rs 200 notes is likely to begin after June, once the government officially approves this new denomination.”
There are even reports of the government bringing back the Rs 1,000 currency note in a new avatar soon.
On 8 November, PM Modi announced the withdrawal of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, amounting to around 86% of currency in circulation. Since then, RBI has replaced the demonetised notes with the new Rs 2, 000 and redesigned Rs 500 bank notes.
On March 13, RBI lifted all cash withdrawal caps. ATM operators, however, say that there is a paucity of lower denomination banknotes.
