A married couple from Kerela, Shafeek Subaida Hakkim and Divya DV, were denied a hotel room in Bengaluru on Tuesday. Olive Residency Hotel at Annipuram Main Road in Sudhama Nagar denied entry to the couple because the boy was a Muslim and the girl was a Hindu.

Divya had an interview in Bengaluru and her husband decided to accompany her. According to the couple the receptionist denied them a room after he saw their ID cards.

As per reports, Divya had an interview at 2 PM and it was already 7 AM, so the couple decided not to waste any more time arguing with the hotel staff and went to some other hotel.

While speaking with NewsX , the victim Divya said, “We are not the only one who faced this issue; society is not ready to accept people of different communities living together.”

Divya further added that she will resort to legal remedy.

On the other hand, the hotel owner has said that the couple did not have identity proof and did not have any luggage with them so they were denied a hotel room.

Earlier, Nupur Saraswat, an Indian-origin spoken word artist from Singapore was denied a room in a hotel in Erragadda, Bengaluru for a weird reason.

Saraswat having made prior bookings in the hotel via a travel portal was left stunned when the staff in the hotel refused to accommodate her room as she was a ‘single lady’ traveller.
