The discussion on implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Jammu & Kashmir Assembly took an ugly turn when PDP minister Imran Ansari told National Conference leader Davender Rana that he could lynch the latter in the Assembly itself.
The incident took place when Rana was opposing the GST in the Assembly. During the heated discussion, Rana said that he has not indulged in tax invasion. The remark infuriated Ansari who retorted by saying, “I can lynch you here; I know you and all your trashy business.”
Rana however kept his cool and responded, “Many like me can be sacrificed at the altar of safeguarding the interests of Jammu and Kashmir.”
The spat resulted in a massive ruckus in the Assembly and speaker had to warn both the leaders.
“Stop attacking each other. People might strip you when you go out. This is nonsense. Stop it!” Deputy Speaker Nazir Ahmad Gurezi said.
It is important to note that J&K is the only state in India to not implement GST as many Opposition parties including the National Conference and Congress are opposing the tax regime in its present form.
