The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday seeking more time to file supplementary charge sheet in Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh’s disproportionate assets case. The matter had been adjourned by the Patiala House Court in Delhi for September 4.
The Patiala House Court has also extended the judicial custody of Virbhadra Singh’s aide Anand Chauhan till September 4.
Earlier, Delhi High Court on July 3rd had dismissed a plea by Virbhadra and others seeking quashing of a money laundering case filed against them by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The filed plea was rejected by Justice RK Guaba, saying that the plea against possible arrest and attachment of property can’t be allowed.
On September 2015, the ED had lodged the case against 83-year-old Singh and others under the PMLA after taking cognisance of a criminal complaint filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The CBI had filed a charge sheet on March 31, hours after the High Court refused to quash the FIR lodged against Singh and his wife in the disproportionate assets case.
Singh had earlier claimed that the FIR was the result of a ‘political vendetta’.
