In yet another shocking episode of apathy and insensitiveness towards the poor and challenged class, a dead body was forced to be carried in an open rickshaw after the hospitals in the city denied ambulance service to the bereaved family.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh when the deceased was found near the Atra Station and the body had to be sent for post-mortem.
Identified as Ramasare, apparently, the Government Railway Police (GRP) had also called some hospitals in the area for ambulance service but denied as no one was ready to assist services to carry the corpse.
Finally, the family resorted to carrying the body to the city hospital in a rickshaw.
As per report the rickshaw on its way to the hospital had passed by the houses of senior government officials including passed the house including that of Superintendent of Police’s (SP) House, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Office, Housing, Commissioner House, Police Line, with no one coming to the aid of the poor family.
Meanwhile, a picture of the rickshaw shows a GRP official who followed the family of the deceased in an e-rickshaw after no hospital offered ambulance to the family.
Speaking to a news agency, GRP, Sepak Diwakar Singh said, “After getting no response from any of the hospital, we advised the family to take the body for post-mortem in a rickshaw.
