At least three militants were killed in an encounter between security forces and the terrorist broke out in Tral in Jammu and Kashmir‘s Pulwama district on Saturday. Both the slain militants were locals affiliated with the Zakir Musa group, say sources.
Reportedly the search party based on specific Intel had cordoned Satora area of Tral when the militants resorted to firing.
Confirming the details, Director General of Police SP Vaid told reporters that the bodies of the slain militants were visible while the remaining militants have taken refuge in the cave.
“The dead militants look like foreigners, probably belonging to Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit,” Vaid said.
“Firing is still going on in the area. We expect to eliminate more militants,” he added.
At least 3-4 terrorists were believed to be trapped in the region. The operation is still on.
The area has been taken over by the armed forces and the civilians have been advised to stay clear of ground Zero.
The encounter comes a day after Indian security forces in arrested one local militant from Sumbal area of Bandipora district in northern part of Kashmir on Saturday.
A resident of Mir Mohalla Hajan in the Valley, the terrorist has been identified as Shahbaz Mir, son of Ghulam Rasool Mir.
He was apprehended during an ambush laid by Special Operations Group (SoG) of Sumbal and 13 Rastriya Rifles regiment of Army at Markundal in Pushwari. A cache of pistol, fire rounds, four grenades and one knife was recovered from the militant.
