Coming out as another push to NDA’s Ram Nath Kovind and a major jolt to UPA’s Meira Kumar, reports suggest that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) broke their ranks with the Opposition and came out in total support of ex-Bihar Governor and Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate, Ram Nath Kovind.

As per reports, after an hour since the polling had commenced, NCP came out with a statement that they will be extending support to Kovind in the Presidential poll.

However, while speaking to media after casting the vote, NCP’s Praful Patel said that All NCP MPs & MLAs have voted for Meira Kumar.

Praful Patel, had been reacting to the reports by a private news channel.

Earlier, the NCP had denied supporting Ram Nath Kovind alleging that he is a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) affiliated person and therefore BJP has selected him so our support will be towards UPAs Meira Kumar.

While speaking to a leading daily, NCP leader, Majeed Memon said that Kovind is not at all a known person and also he has not done any work. He is an RSS affiliated person and that is the reason BJP is supporting him.

Ruling out NCP’s support to Kovind, Memon had said that India cannot have a president of RSS idealogy for next 5 years.
