In a tragic news being reported from national capital, a minor girl was allegedly raped by a man in northwest Delhi’s Model Town area on Saturday. The girl alleged that the man had served her with laced drinks.
The victim was later identified as a 17-year-old national level junior kabaddi player. In her complaint, the victim alleged that she was outside the stadium when a man who runs a wrestling training centre engaged her in a conversation claiming that he is a stadium official.
The minor told the police that the man took to her to his flat in Rohini saying that he will introduce her to a few of his colleagues and served her with laced drinks following which she fell unconscious and was sexually abused.
On Monday the girl approached police and narrated her ordeal. She also stated that the whole incident had left her traumatised due to which she could not approach the police earlier. The victim also alleged that the accused had threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to the police.
A complaint was registered against the accused after the medical reports from the hospital confirmed the rape allegations by the girl.
While speaking to Hindustan Times, a police official said that a case of rape under sections of POCSO (Protection of children from sexual offences act) has been registered and the accused has also been detained.
“He was identified and has been detained. He is being questioned and will soon be put under arrest,” the officer added.
