Hitting out a viscous attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA government, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that Centres’ policy were responsible for the current situation in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking outside the Parliament, Rahul said, “I have been asserting for long that it’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA policies at the Centre that have destroyed Jammu and Kashmir.”
Rahul also disapproved intervention of any third party to settle the issue of Kashmir. He said that the issues India is facing are his own and needs no outside help.
“The point that is being mentioned that a third party’s intervention should be invited for the settlement of the issue, it’s wrong. India is Kashmir and Kashmir is India,” he said.
Earlier, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah raised the point of a third party intervention for the settlement of Kashmir issue between India and Pakistan.
Abdullah said that India should approach third parties, such as the United States and China, to mediate in the Kashmir issue.
“For how long are you going to wait? Sometimes, you have to pull the bull by its horns. The way is to have a dialogue. India has so many friends all across the world. They can ask them to act as a mediator. US President Trump himself said that he wants to settle Kashmir problem. China also said that it wants to mediate in Kashmir. Somebody has to be approached,” Abdullah said.
Rahul Gandhi had previously hit out on PM Modi and his policy for militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Taking to Twitter, Rahul had said that PM Modi’s policies and his pursuit of “short-term political gain” created space for terrorists in the Valley.
Reacting to it, Union Minister Smriti Irani also hit out at Rahul Gandhi for blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies for creating space for terrorists in Kashmir.
“After returning from strategic and very well-known holiday, Gandhi has chosen to attack the Prime Minister, especially when the whole nation stands united against terrorism,” she said.
BJP also called him an “immature mind” who does not know the history of this nation.
“What personal benefit can anyone draw out of bloodshed, but it only shows an immature mind who does not know the history of his own family. Because, if anybody is singularly responsible for the mess that we are watching in Jammu and Kashmir, it is the Nehru family,” said BJP.
