The Patiala House Courts has directed the Delhi Police to de-seal the room of the Delhi hotel where former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor‘s wife Sunanda Pushkar was found dead within 4 weeks. Sunanda was found dead in January 2014.
Moreover, in a petition which is already pending in the Delhi High Court in which it is possible that the case might be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) owing to which the Delhi Police was keeping intact that they wanted to keep the room sealed because they were not sure that the case will be transferred to the CBI.
However, in a setback to the Delhi Police, the court has now directed the room to be de-sealed.
The move has come after the hotel had moved in a petition in the trial court speaking that the room was already sealed since three-and- half-years and they were cooperating in the investigation. But since the room was sealed and no particular change was made in the order to the preserve the evidence It was also affecting the nearby surroundings of the hotel, like the room and nearby rooms were becoming unbelievable due to which the hotel had to bear economic loss on daily basis.
But whether the move will now be challenged in a higher court is yet to be seen.
