At least six policemen were injured after a scuffle broke between Army personnel and Police in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir over an argument at a checkpoint on Saturday. The police have so registered a case and investigation is underway.
Reportedly the incident took place when the army soldiers returning from Amarnath Yatra got into an argument when they were signalled to stop at the check post. by the policemen in Gund area, 62 km from here.
“The infuriated soldiers then thrashed the six policemen and also ransacked the Gund police station,” reports IANS.
All the injured were later sent to the hospital for medical assistance.
The development comes at the time when the state of J&K is reeling under all time high cross border militancy and regular ceasefire violation by Pakistan.
Both police and army are facing a tough task of monitoring the unrest and bring the region to normalcy.
Earlier on Friday, a soldier was killed and another was injured in unprovoked Pakistan firing on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu district.
The sources said Pakistan army initiated firing from Pimpal border outpost on their side of the LoC, while the Indian soldiers killed or injured were deployed at Goga-2 border outpost on the Indian side in Bhattal area of Chhamb sector.
