Jewar gang-rape and murder case: Police arrest four suspects after brief encounter
In a major success, police on Sunday arrested four men suspected in Jewar rape and murder case after an encounter that begin last night in near Sabota village in Uttar Pradesh.
Confirming the arrest, Senior Superintendent of police, Love Kumar said, “The four arrested men were involved in gang rape of four women and murder of their male relative on May 25 in Yamuna Express.”
He further said that one of the arrested was sent to the hospital to get medical assistance while three others are in police custody for interrogation.
Working on specific Intel, police came to know about the six criminals belonging to Bawariya gang hiding in the area and conducted the raid.
The team from Jewar police station led the group and cordoned the area when the criminals opened fire at them.
Reportedly, the encounter started at around 2: 30 AM that lasted for two hours before the police finally nabbed four people while two of them managed to flee from the crime scene.
“One of them has received bullet injury in the leg and has been hospitalized. Three others have been taken for questioning,” said Love Kumar.
Asserting to get hold of the two who escaped taking benefit of darkness, Kumar said that the police has launched a combing operation in the area.
