Coming out as a major development in the scuffle between AIADMK and former DIG (Prisons) Roopa, senior officials belonging to the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru, supported the allegations claimed by the former DIG of jails confirming that the special privileges were extended to AIADMK (Amma) leader VK Sasikala.
As per reports by Deccan Chronicle, the senior officials while discussing the matter with Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly confirmed that the privileges were extended to Sasikala and stamp paper scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi.
The report also confirmed that Sasikala had five rooms just for herself.
While talking to the daily, a PAC official said that following the developments which have surfaced, the report submitted by Roopa turns out to be true. The senior officials have also be directed by the PAC to identify the jail officials involved in the scam.
Speaking to India Today, former home minister R Ashok also asked the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail officials to submit a detailed report within 15 days.
Following the huge expose in the VVIP treatment being enjoyed by Sasikala, TTV Dinakaran’s faction has now threatened to sue Roppa if she fails to provide evidence over her allegations.
Addressing the media on the matter, P Vetrivel, AIADMK district secretary and MLA, said, “Sasikala was not given any facilities in the prison. She was not in a mood to ask for any such facilities either.”
“DIG Roopa should take back her allegations,” he added.
The major flaw in the system was highlighted in July after Roopa had submitted a report to the home secretary and four other departments, accusing former DIG and IGP of Prisons HN Satyanarayana Rao of receiving bribes in order to extend the special privileges to Sasikala.
