JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting his decision to quit as the Bihar Chief Minister over differences with the RJD.
“I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reacting to the decision I took,” tweeted the Janata Dal (United) leader who has been asked to continue as Chief Minister by the Governor.
Soon after Nitish Kumar resigned, Prime Minister Narendra Modi within no time congratulated him for raising his voice against corruption.
“Congratulate Nitish Ji on joining fight against corruption. 125 crore people welcome and support this honesty,” PM Modi tweeted.
He also said that rising above political differences and work for the development of the country is the need of the hour.
“To rise above political differences & fight against corruption in country & in Bihar in particular, for development is need of the hour,” PM wrote in another tweet.
Nitish Kumar resigned as the chief minister of Bihar on Wednesday after RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said that his son and Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav will resign from his post.
Ever since the CBI filed cases of corruption against Tejashwi Yadav, his father Lalu Prasad and sister Misa Yadav, pressure had been mounting on the Chief Minister to sack his deputy.
