Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday slammed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for ditching the grand alliance and joining hands with the BJP for “personal gains”.

“We were aware of what was going on from last 3-4four months. This is the problem with Indian politics. For the sake of power and personal gains, they compromise with anything,” Gandhi told reporters outside Parliament.

He further accused Nitish Kumar of betraying mandate given to him by the people after joining BJP.

However, right after tendering his resignation, Nitish Kumar had met with Gandhi and had claimed that he was disappointed as no result was achieved.

He said, “I met Rahul Gandhi who had torn an ordinance that sought to enable people sentenced to more than two years in jail to contest elections. But except for some superficial talk, nothing happened.”

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks came soon after Nitish Kumar took oath as Chief Minister of Bihar for the 6th time. He further added that there were no rules and credibility in Indian politics.
