A day after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the 6th time, JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar on Friday sailed through the trust vote in the state Assembly; even as the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is crying foul and wants to take a legal route by approaching the supreme court against the Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi’s decision not allow them to form the government.
Yesterday in a meek ceremony, Nitish became Bihar’s new CM after dumping the Grand Alliance that ruled the state for 18 months.
Surprisingly, hours after resigning as the CM on Wednesday, Nitish Kumar, in a complete U-turn from his earlier stand, met Governor Tripathi with NDA leaders and staked claim to form a new government with the support of the BJP.
The Raj Bhavan in Bihar echoed with chants of “Nitish Kumar Zindabad” as Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi administered the oath to Nitish Kumar.
BJP’s Sushil Kumar Modi was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister.
Speaking to the media Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)’s Tejashwi Yadav said, “Each development seemed planned. It was all pre-decided. Why was everything done in such rush? His resignation, followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) backing him, and staking claim to form government within hours of resignation, proves it.”

A day after Janata Dal United (JD(U)) chief Nitish Kumar orchestrated one of the biggest political slugfest in Bihar, the former state chief minister is all set to be sworn in as National Democratic Alliance’s (NDA) Chief Minister today at 10 AM after he submitted a list of 132 supporting MLAs to Governor KN Tripathi on Wednesday.
Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Sushil Modi will be sworn in as Bihar’s deputy chief minister.
The newly formed government will be given a day’s time to prove their majority as the floor test is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
The news was confirmed after BJP’s Sushil Modi tweeted a picture of himself and Nitish Kumar, leaving the Governor’s residence after receiving an invitation to form the next government of Bihar.
On Wednesday evening, Bihar was caught up in one of the biggest political turmoil after CM Nitish Kumar had resigned from his post. The resignation came in after the ‘mahagathbandhan’ partner, Lalu Prasad Yadav ruled out the resignation of his son Tejashwi Yadav who currently faces corruption charges.
The resignation which came in after a fight with ‘corruption’ drew praises from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Following the reports that the Governor has given nod to NDA and Nitish Kumar’s government, Tejashwi Yadav had led a protest to Raj Bhawan.
Taking to his twitter handle, Tejaswi Yadav tweeted, “Governor gave us the time of 11 AM and now suddenly has asked NDA for oath ceremony at 10 AM. Why so much hurry & rush Mr. Honest & Moral?”
Joining the league of criticism for Nitish Kumar’s move and Guv’s act, RJD handle tweeted, “A Governor should act as custodian of constitution, not as Centre’s stooge. He can’t ignore single largest party & largest pre-poll alliance.”
The sudden end of the two-year Bihar alliance will considerably wind the attempt of the opposition to build a party front that is hoping to stop Prime Minister Narendra Modi from winning a second term in upcoming 2019 elections.
