Indian and Pakistan armies on Saturday traded heavy fire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district after Pakistan violated bilateral ceasefire. Police said that Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing at Indian positions on the LoC in Digwar area of Poonch district at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday.
“Indian Army responded strongly and shelling and firing exchanges continued for around 25 minutes”, police sources said.
Previously on July 27, The Indian Army had foiled an infiltration bid in Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir. As per reports, in the operation carried out by the Indian Army, at least 3 terrorists were gunned down.
As per a defence spokesperson, the Indian troops noticed a suspicious movement along the LoC and challenged the intruders which was followed by a heavy firing.
“An infiltration bid has been foiled in Gurez sector. Three terrorists have been killed,” he said, adding the operation was in progress.
