The Congress on Sunday produced their 44 MLAs before media, who were segregated at a private resort in Bengaluru on Friday. The MLAs in the meet said that they have taken refuge in the Congress-led Karnataka as they feared for their lives in their state ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

While addressing the media, Senior Congress MLA Shaktisinh Gohil said, “BJP hitting below the belt; we are fighting to protect democracy.”

Gohil even revealed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have threatened and offered Rs 15 crore to the MLAs but they proffered to stand by their party.

The Congress jolted by the exit of six of its legislators in 24 hours, with one more likely to leave, flew off most of the party’s remaining MLAs to Bengaluru on Friday night.

The Congress MLA also added, “When there was flood in Banaskantha, my MLAs were there with people but no BJP minister, leader or CM were there.”

Gohil further said that all the MLAs decided to protect democracy and themselves shifted to a state where they felt secured.

Gohil even said that the MLAs will move back to Gujarat immediately as soon as the situation changes and safety prevails.
