A local businessman was brutally shot dead in broad-day light on Saturday after an unidentified assailant opened fire on him outside his rice shelter unit in Faridkot, Punjab.
Identified as Ravindra Pappu Kochar, sources claim role of a local gang in Jaito town behind the killing.
Notably, the entire incident was also caught in a camera, reflecting the extent of ‘gundaraaz’ and lawlessness in the state.
The video footage, now in possession of the authorities shows an unidentified man shooting the victim before fleeing from the crime scene.
The video which is currently being treated as evidence shows the local industrialist parking his car outside the rice mill after which the other car following him pulls over.
A man is then seen coming out of it and fires 5 shots back to back leaving the businessman dead on spot.
Speaking to a local daily, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Faridkot said that going by the CCTV footage, there were 2 people in attacker’s car while only one came out and opened fire.

The vehicle has been identified and the hunt is on, the officer added.
An FIR has been registered in the case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 302 (punishment for murder) against an unidentified person.
