In a major national political development emerging on Wednesday, the factions representing O Panneerselvam (OPS) and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi Palaniswami (EPS) have decided to join forces with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led NDA alliance. An official statement to confirm the merger is yet to be released by both the factions.

As per reports, there are 3 cabinet berths up for grab for the AIADMK at the centre.

This comes at a time when the Bharatiya Janata Party tried to come on board with the AIADMK in order to expand the saffron reach in the southern region of the country.

Earlier in June, the merger talks between the two factions had failed after O Panneerselvam dissolved the panel formed for talks with EPS faction.

He had demanded that the former AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dinakaran be removed from the party before the merger happened.
