“Desperate times calls for desperate measures”, the adage fits best when you see two men getting married to each other — nothing wrong there — unless the union was an attempt to appease the rain gods.
Yes, after having seen people getting married to frogs and goats, in a bizarre incident, two men in Indore’s Musakhedi village decided to tie knot to please ‘Indra’ in the wake of having been missed out — even though some of the regions are submerged in water.
The villagers after consulting the head priest of the area took the decision to get them married as the only way of seeking blessings from the gods.
Both men dressed in traditional wedding attire got married in front of a large gathering of relatives, native villagers and a few strangers who could not help but relish the wedding repast.
Notably, Madhya Pradesh has been reeling under serious drought due to shortage of rainfall resulting in huge losses to the farmers in the agrarian state.

The farmers have asked for a loan waiver and a fixed amount in lieu of the produce as per the recommendations by the M S Swaminathancommittee. The protesting farmers alleged Chief Minister Shivraj Chauhan of not delivering on the promises made to them by his government.

The appalling situation of the farmers has caused a lot of stir in the state. The severe drought has also lead to a shortage of water in the state.
It is definitely hard to ascertain if the gods were pleased by the efforts made by the villagers; but the two men went home, reportedly to their respective wives.
For what it is worth, it did shower a little while the two were busy reciting prayers for their successful union.
