The Indian Army on Monday foiled an infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir’s Machil Sector. According to latest reports, at least 5 terrorists were gunned down in the operation carried out by the Indian Army.

“Five terrorists were killed today by the army in Machil sector of the LoC where a major infiltration attempt by terrorists has been foiled,” a defence spokesman said in Srinagar.

“Five weapons have been recovered from the slain terrorists. The operation is still going on in the area,” Defence Ministry spokesman Col. Rajesh Kalia said.

Earlier, an Indian Army Major and a soldier were killed last week in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district in an ambush by the Hizbul Mujahideen, which earlier lost two of its men to security forces in Kulgam district.

Sources later confirmed that an Indian Army Major and his subordinate succumbed to their injuries during the encounter in Zoipura village, Shopian.
