While the Election Commission is yet to resume the counting of the votes in the Gujarat Rajya Sabha Elections, the Congress party on Tuesday hit out the Bharatiya Janata Party saying, “Why is the BJP bringing army of Defense-Finance Minister, Power Minister, Petroleum Minister and Commerce Minister? It means they want to suppress truth.
Continuing with his charge on the Centre, RS Surjewala said, “With all respect want to tell BJP that this is the war of truth, lies cannot prevail on Gandhi Ji’s land.”
The Congress party earlier in the evening demanded that the Election Commission should quash the votes of two of its MLAs who supported the BJP.
Delegation led by senior leaders of both the parties have been meeting the election commission officials to put their point of view forward in this regard.
However, while the leaders were repeatedly trying to meet the EC officials in Delhi, the Commission did not meet Congress and BJP delegations for the third time as a full EC bench meeting was underway.
Meanwhile, leaders of both the parties continued to hit out at each other. Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that it is a complete sham that Congress is indulging in, the allegations are completely baseless.”
“We want electoral process to be completed and counting to begin,” Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.
