An explosive material packed in a polythene bag along with a letter reading ‘revenge will be taken from Indians for the death of Abu Dujana’ was found on the Amritsar-bound Akal Takht SF Express which was coming from Kolkata on Thursday. The train was stopped immediately after the discovery of the explosives and was stationed at Akbarganj Railway Station in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh.

After a passenger in the train identified the suspicious material at 1AM, he swiftly alarmed the officials on-board the train and the train was stopped in Amethi. The passengers were shifted from the train bogey to another and bomb squad initiated the process of containing the situation.

The bomb was later defused but a letter was found alongside it which stated that the death of slain LeT chief Abu Dujana, who was killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama region of Jammu and Kashmir, will be avenged.

Although the train was given clearance to move after a thorough sanitisation was carried out, an inquiry has now been initiated by the top officials from Lucknow, who have now transferred this case to Uttar Pradesh police.

The Railway Ministry is yet to give a statement on this matter.
