Just a few days after Varnika’s Chandigarh stalking incident shook the nation, a 25-year-old woman was chased by two men in a car after she left her office in Sector-18 of Gurugram on Aug 7, Monday night. The victim works as an executive in a private firm in Gurugram.
In the complaint filed the woman said that she was on her way home when the men started following her in their car. She alleged that the chase had begun soon after she had left her office. The men followed her across the near-empty stretch, on to the old Delhi-Gurugram road from sector 18 of Gurugram.
The accused continuously called out to her and also tried to corner her scooter, she added. “I tried to ignore them and raced for my life, and somehow reached home,” she said in her police complaint.
The next afternoon, the victim visited the police commissioner’s office and filed her complaint, following which an FIR was filed against the two unidentified men under Section 354D (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sector 14 police station.
Talking to media Ravinder Kumar, PRO Gurugram Police said that CCTV footage of the route is being examined to nab the culprits.
When asked that why there were no police patrol vehicles on the route, the PRO said that the patrol vehicles might had been patrolling another route at that point of time.
