The walls seem to be closing in for the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed for his ‘anti-India’ activities. On Thursday more than 1,000 Muslim clerics and imams signed a petition and called for stringent punishment by the United Nations (UN).
On Wednesday, the Muslim clerics passed a resolution to this effect. Commenting on the matter a cleric said that thousands of imams and clerics had come out in support of the motion.
Head of an NGO in Mumbai, Islamic Defence Cyber Cell, Abdur Rahman Anjaria said that the copy of resolution which denounces JuD along with other Pakistan-based terror outfits has been sent to UN Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee.
A copy of the resolution has also sent to the Prime Minister’s office, he added.
Speaking to PTI, Anjaria said, “Hafiz Saeed and the terror outfits he heads are threat to global peace. He calls India enemy No. 1 but he is the enemy of Islam and humanity.”
“Apart from demanding action against the India-hater from the UN Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee, we have apprised the PMO about the same,” he added.
Anjaria, who introduced the bill said, “We passed the resolution at a gathering held at a Madrassa and unanimously denounced JuD and several other Pakistan-based terror outfits which are hellbent on harming our country.”
Here is the copy of resolution:
Earlier in 2015, Anjaria had also initiated a fatwa against Islamic State (IS) outfit and had got it signed by over 1,000 Indian Muslim clerics and imams.
