The Janata Dal (United) led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar suspended its MP Ali Anwar Ansari suspended from parliamentary party after he participated in opposition parties’ meeting. JD(U)’s General Secretary KC Tyagi informed the media.
The meeting was called by Congress party President Sonia Gandhi.
Few weeks ago, Ali Anwar Ansari has expressed his discomfort after party chief Nitish Kumar broke the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) and aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form government in Bihar.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi had called a meeting of 18 opposition parties on August 11 (Friday), the last day of Parliament’s monsoon session, to discuss the future course of action of the joint opposition and chalk out a strategy against the Modi government.
The meeting was chaired by Sonia Gandhi. Janata Dal(United) leader Sharad Yadav was also invited for the meeting.
