The political drama in the state of Bihar is unfolding an array of surprises. In a fresh move, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah has given an open invitation to Bihar Chief Minster Nitish Kumar, asking him to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
This comes days after reports of Nitish Kumar joining the BJP and leaving the Grand Alliance came in. He had expressed his intention of extending full support to BJP.
Earlier, Janata Dal (United)’s Sharad Yadav had expressed his dislike regarding Nitish leaving the Grand Alliance and had announced that he will join hands with the Congress. He had also said that he will stand by his choice and support the RJD joining hands with the Congress through the ‘Mahagathbandhan.’
In reply to this, Nitish Kumar remarked that Sharad Yadav is free to decide who he wants to join.
In a separate statement, he had also announced that he will meet PM Narendra Modi to talk about development and other issues in Bihar.
In July, Nitish Kumar had resigned as the Chief Minister of Bihar while opting to move out of the 20-month-old Grand Alliance. He was sworn in as the Chief Minister amid full support from BJP on the very next day.
Explaining his break up with RJD, the JD(U) President Nitish Kumar had alleged that corruption was seeping in and ruining the alliance through Lalu Yadav and his clan. He had said that he was left with no choice but to leave the Grand Alliance for that reason.
