Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the nation on the occasion of 71st Independence Day. Donning an off-white kurta and crimson turban, the Prime Minister presented a report card of NDA government’s achievements and touched upon pertinent issues like corruption, Triple Talaq, black money & terrorism among others.

— This is special year as it marks 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement,100th anniversary of Champaran Satyagraha & 125th anniversary of Ganesh Utsav.

— We are paying significant attention to East India-Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Odisha, Northeast. These parts must develop further.
— Following GST and demonetisation, over 18 lakh people with disproportionate incomes have been brought to book. Also, There has been a significant rise in number of taxpayers in the country.
— We have shut down 1.75 lakh companies for indulging in illegal practices. We shut down 300 Hawala companies and many more offshore companies for malpractices.
—We want to give a stern message that corruption will not be tolerated in India. We are fighting corruption – for the bright future of India and the wellbeing of our people
