Bharatiya Janata Party’s ally Shiv sena has lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making ‘Gaali’ and ‘Goli’ remark in his Independence day speech and demanded scrapping of Article 370 from the constitution, which grants special status to the state of J&K.
“We are stunned by Prime Minister’s statement, Kashmir issue can be only be solved by removing Article 370 from the constitution,” the party said.
Addressing the nation on 71st Independence day on Tuesday, PM Modi had said that the problems in Kashmir Valley cannot be resolved through ‘gaali’ (abuse) or ‘goli’ (bullets). He added that change could be brought in the violence-marred state only by embracing Kashmiris.
“Na gaali se samasya sulajhne waali hai, na goli se samasya sulajhne waali hai, samasya suljhegi, samasya har Kashmiri ko gale laga kar sulajhne waali hai. Na gaali se, na goli se, parivartan hoga sabko gale lagakar,” were the exact words of PM.
PM Modi also said that he was clear in his belief on on how to win the war against separatism.
“Algavwadi, mutthi bhar algavwadi, ye algavwadi jis prakar ke naye naye paintre rachte hain,” he said.
Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir’s deputy CM Dr Nirmal Singh had said that BJP will take a call on issues like Areicle 370 and Article 35 A when it forms a majority govt in the state.
